Our History

World Health Ambassador became an independent 501(c)(3), non-profit organization in 2007 after several years as a pilot program of the Vietnamese American Medical Association. WHA now has more than 285 members, across 15 states and several foreign countries including the United Kingdom, Sweden, France, Egypt, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Australia and Canada. To date, WHA had sent medical and dental teams to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos.

Highlights of WHA’s Activities

March 2005 Cambodia medical and dental mission (2,200 patients treated)
April 2006 Hurricane Katrina damage survey (Biloxi, Mississippi)
May 2006  Presentation at the 25th International Infectious Disease Congress (Lisbon, Portugal)
July 2006 Vietnam medical needs survey mission
March 2007 Vietnam medical and dental mission (1,800 patients treated)
2007 - 2008 Medical Assistance Program provided financial and medical sponsorship for open heart operations on three children with severe congenital heart disease
July 2008 Vietnamese Medical Society of Northeast America Health Fair (Virginia)
November 2007 Laos medical needs survey mission
May 2008 Biloxi Health Fair (Mississippi)
November 2008 Laos medical and dental mission (1,500 patients treated)
April 2009 Biloxi Health Fair (Mississippi)
May 2009 Dallas Asian Festival (Texas)
August 2009 Vietnamese Medical Society of Northeast America Health Fair (Virginia)
